MAHSA University’s Diploma in Environmental Health is a 3-year comprehensive programme for students who have completed their SPM or its equivalent. This course was tailored for individuals who have an interest in health and the environmental conditions that necessarily dictate it. Students will learn about the importance of preventing the transmission of infectious diseases brought about by physical, biological, cultural and socio-environmental agents. They will also discuss the necessity of good sanitation, preventive measures and remedial action.
MAHSA's Diploma in Environmental Health is an exciting programme that observes and studies human activity affecting the quality of human life. Students learn to make scientific observations based on empirical evidence and logical deductions, and to formulate their own answers and solutions to current environmental problems. Core topics include health issues; the body’s reaction to environmental pollutants; physical, chemical and biological agents of environmental contamination; the ways in which pollutants are released on the environment in solid, liquid and gaseous forms; types of hazardous wastes; susceptible populations; risk analysis and the scientific bases for decision-making, and emerging global environmental health issues.
At the end of the course, students will be equipped with a fundamental knowledge of the relevant sciences and their auxiliary services such as legal barriers and obligations, codes of practice and ethics, and relevant communication skills.
