Students will learn the importance of managers within business and discover how key resources must be planned, monitored and controlled to best meet strategic business objectives. Students develop skills to manage themselves, organise and lead others, evaluate current situations and make creative and well-informed decisions, while learning to be an ethical and socially responsible manager.
Aims and objectives
Many students find it difficult to appreciate the skillsets needed by managers in an increasingly turbulent environment in which they are required to draw on both technical skills and their own and other’s judgment as appropriate. This often requires the development of critical and collaborative mindsets to develop shared understandings with diverse others within and across organisations. The Bachelor of Business (Management) has been designed to respond to and lead direction in this turbulent management environment.
Upon successfully completing the Bachelor of Business (Management) students will be able to:
- Define and integrate theoretical principles applicable to business and apply those principles in a range of practices
- Systematically review and critically evaluate research from a variety of sources in order to make informed judgements on options for innovatively solving a range of problems that arise in business contexts
- Formulate creative solutions that are fit for purpose and demonstrate cognisance of the impact of business decisions on the triple bottom line
- Coherently articulate a line of reasoning demonstrating cultural sensitivity and apply a framework to analyse and offer solutions to ethical dilemmas
- Communicate a range of business arguments by evaluating and implementing alternative communication strategies as appropriate to the audience
- Build on and continuously develop the intellectual independence to be critical and reflective learners, cognisant of new technologies
- Work collaboratively in diverse groups
