Bachelor of Computer Science (Cyber Security) (Hons) is offered by the Department of Computing, College of Computing & Informatics, Universiti Tenaga Nasional. This programme offers computer science curricula with the emphasis on cyber security knowledge that is tailored towards securing modern net-centric computing environment. Students who undergo this programme will be equipped with the fundamentals knowledge of computer science which include subjects on programming and software development, data communication and network, computer organization and operating systems.
This programme emphasis on theoretical and practical applications in cybersecurity. The focus in cyber security means that students are not only trained to protect computer systems and networks, but they are also trained to extend the security protection to humans, who are the users of the computer systems. This holistic view of security would enable the students to become technically competent in various aspects of security, as well as giving them the right mindset to take up a leadership role in managing cybersecurity in an organization. Given that UNITEN is a subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), students are also exposed to the niche domain knowledge of security for critical infrastructure, where the expertise in this area is highly sought after in the industry.
On top of that, students will also be trained in the arts and skills of cyber security which includes subjects on cryptography, computer security, network security, secure programming, information security assurance, as well as network penetration and countermeasures.
In addition to pursuing computer science and cyber security related jobs, students who graduated from this programme will also be qualified to perform research work and pursue Master and PhD from reputable institutions of higher learning including UNITEN.
120 credit hours of subjects are being taught in nine semesters. This Bachelor of Computer Science (Cyber Security) (Hons) programme can be completed in 3 years.
