BEd (TESOL)
The structure of the programme is modular, composed of modules contributing a specific number of credits. One credit represents 10 hours of student work; it means that a 20 credit module represents 200 hours of students endeavour, including formal teaching, independent study, school-base experience and the preparation of assessments. An Honours degree requires the successful completion of 360 credits, 120 of which are taken in each year. The first year is called the Qualifying year. Students must complete and attain a satisfactory grade for the Qualifying year before they are allowed to progress to Part I (second year). The requirement is applied in Part I before students progress to Part II (third year). Part I counts for 40% and Part II counts for 60% of the final degree classification.
