ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
Information Systems and Information Technology are often considered similar but Information Technology is actually a subset of Information Systems. Though both fields deal with computers, they have different characteristics and career paths that require diverse skills, knowledge and training.
Organizations work with large amounts of data. These data needs to be organized and analysed. For this, Information Systems are needed to turn raw data into useful information that can be used to solve problems and also for the decision making process in an organization.
Whereas Information Technology focuses more on managing technology and improving its utilization, which includes the hardware, software, databases and networks. It is more inclined to the study of design, implementation, support or management of computer based information systems.
Is this programme for me?
Information Systems is a broad field that goes beyond than just understanding how to use a computer and how computer programs work. It covers a broader area which involves problem solving, implementation of new ideas, managing time and resources, strategic thinking and communication.

This programme is designed to produce competent and marketable graduates in managing and developing information systems in a business context with added knowledge in information management, enterprise systems, e-commerce and organisational behaviour.
